

MANTIS project’s main goal is to bring forward a multidisciplinary research plan to study the autonomy and agency of natural and artificial entities, both for boosting our theoretical understanding of the natural world and for enhancing our capacity to design and control AI systems.
MANTIS project aims to establish a unique collaboration network aiming at developing a quantitative theory about autonomous capacities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, based on universal cognitive principles.
The only way to achieve this goal is by combining multilevel insights from fields like computational neuroscience, biophysics, philosophy of cognitive sciences, AI alignment, machine learning, dynamical systems theory and neuroAI.
